Busan East Coast Course: Songjeong Beach, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple and Orangdae Park by Donghae Line and Bus

The east side of Haeundae is not reached by the subway, so the confusing part is where to get off and what to change to. This guide lays out the order from Songjeong Beach to Osiria, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple and Orangdae Park by station, bus and walking distance.

As of October 20, 2026 — check operating hours, closing days and bus numbers on the official sites again before you visit.

2. Songjeong Beach (송정해수욕장): surfing and sunsets by the sea

Songjeong Beach is counted with Haeundae and Gwangalli as one of the three big beaches of eastern Busan. The sand is wide, 1.2 km long and 57 m wide, and the water is shallow with a gentle slope, so many families come. Today it is even better known as a sea for surfing in every season.

ItemDetails
SurfingThe beach is where the East Sea meets the South Sea, so it gets both north and south winds and waves roll in all year. There are surf shops and surf schools around the beach, so you can learn step by step from beginner to advanced. You can also try other water sports such as paddleboarding here.
SunsetIn the afternoon the waves get bigger and the surfing looks exhilarating. Watching surfers on a sea dyed in sunset colors is one of the signature views of Songjeong.
Jukdo Park (죽도공원) and Songiljeong (송일정)Jukdo Park at the end of the beach got its name Jukdo ("bamboo island") because of its many bamboo. If you walk the path along the coast, you reach Songiljeong, a pavilion known as a place to watch the sunrise and sunset from right beside the sea.
Every seasonThis is not a beach that only fills up in summer. In the off-season the blue sea and wide sand are quiet and peaceful, and it is nice to walk on the sand.

If you include Lotte World Adventure Busan, it takes up much of the day, so it is easier to visit Yonggungsa Temple and Orangdae on another day.

4. Haedong Yonggungsa Temple (해동용궁사): a temple by the sea

Haedong Yonggungsa is a temple built not on a mountain but on rocks by the sea. Most temples in Korea are in the mountains, so it is especially popular with foreign visitors. Together with Naksansa in Yangyang and Boriam in Namhae, it is counted as one of the three great Gwaneum (Avalokiteshvara) holy sites.

Walking routeFrom the entrance you walk down 108 steps to the hall by the sea. On the way out you climb back up the same way. There are also rocky sections, so low-heeled shoes are more comfortable.
From Haeundae StationFrom the stop in front of Exit 7, take Bus 100 or Bus 181 (about 55 min, about 1,600 won) and get off at the Yonggungsa Temple / National Institute of Fisheries Science stop (용궁사·국립수산과학원).

ParkingThe parking lot in front of the temple is paid and is not run by the temple.

You have to walk from the bus stop to the temple. It is less crowded early in the morning, so it works well to put the temple first in the day's route.

5. Orangdae Park (오랑대공원): the end of the route

Orangdae Park is a rocky coastal park on the Gijang-gun shore. On the rocks stands the Yongwangdan (용왕단), a shrine where people pray for the safety of fishermen, and the park is known as a sunrise spot. The park has no closing time and is always open. The rock path at Orangdae is uneven, so walk carefully.
